Job Description

Do you have a background working in a vehicle technical role and the desire to progress your career to the next level? If so this fantastic opportunity to join a vehicle manufacturer to support their dealers could be for you.  

As Technical Support Specialist to provide assistance and support to the manufacturer’s UK dealers for technical, warranty or parts issues. You’ll use your high level technical vehicle diagnostic knowledge to help resolve any dealers requests. The job is based at the manufacturer’s UK head office and will work closely with UK colleagues as well as liaising with the factory for any high level escalations.

This position would suit someone with strong experience in a vehicle technical diagnostic job (including electric vehicles) as well as a Level 3 City & Guilds Motor Vehicle and IMI Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement qualifications (or equivalent). You’ll also need to have excellent interpersonal and problem solving and MS office skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and record all technical enquiries from dealers
  • Manage dealer parts look-up support requests
  • Continuously seek to improve technical, warranty, and dealer support systems and processes
  • Liaise with the factory regarding technical advice, support, recalls and bulletins
  • Provide technical support to the UK import centre
  • Occasional off-site visits to dealerships and import centre for in-person technical support
  • Liaison with the manufacturer’s wider team for any technical, parts and warranty queries
  • Support warranty claims handling
  • Endeavour to develop your personal knowledge including homologation and compliance

The successful candidate will have:

  • Recent high level technical vehicle diagnostic experience (passenger car or LCV) – including electric vehicles
  • At least a Level 3 City and Guilds Motor Vehicle qualification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of IMI Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement qualification (or equivalent)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to multi-task, manage your time and work independently to deadlines
  • Good IT skills including MS Office
  • Be well presented and professional 
  • Able to build strong working relationships with dealers
  • Any knowledge of vehicle homologation and compliance, automotive parts look-up systems and  automotive manufacturers’ warranty processes would be very useful but are not essential
